Happy October everyone! Over on the Watchers on the Wall site, I have a new feature that hopefully is in sync thematically with this spooky, Halloween-focused month.

My feature talks about haunted Harrenhal and the blood-soaked bargain forged between Arya Stark and the mysterious and mercurial Jaqen H’ghar. One of those two was getting in over their head – and I suggest that the one out of their depth wasn’t Arya.

This is the penultimate post in my series of articles talking about the direwolves on HBO’s Game of Thrones (and the literary source A Song of Ice and Fire.)

I’ve mostly been defending the fact that the majority of the direwolves are dead and that the showrunners are probably doing a reasonable job with them in the adaptation, although that’s not a popular fan-held position.

Just a reminder, I’ll be talking about the show and the books. So spoilers abound if you’re behind on your viewing or watching.

Two posts ago, I talked about the Stark direwolves Lady and Greywind, and the most recent post in this series featured Shaggydog and Summer. Up next are the last two wolves in the story, Nymeria and Ghost.

Happy New Year! To celebrate the end of 2017 (a year so bad, Arya Stark had it on her list) I published another Game of Thrones feature on Watchers on the Wall.

I won’t spoil the content of that article, but I talk about how the two venerable institutions on Braavos, the Iron Bank and the House of Black and White, might have some part to play in Season Eight, specifically in regards to a lioness of House Lannister and a wolf-girl of House Stark.

This post will be talking about the state of law on HBO’s Game of Thrones. Plot points from the first six seasons will be discussed, so if you have an iron-clad policy against spoilers and you are not caught up with your watching, let this serve as the legal disclaimer.

Polliver: I’M SORRY! I didn’t mean to spoil you about how the Sixth Sense ends!
Arya: You and Bruce Willis are about to have something in common…

The fantasy land of Westeros appears to be quite a lawless place, with frequent occurrences of treachery, backstabbing, unpunished kinslaying, robbery, murder, etc. At the very least it’s a violent place, but even though there doesn’t seem to be much adherence to the rule of law, laws are in evidence. Sometimes in unexpected ways.

In my last post, I talked about the excellent Game of Thrones concept album SEVEN from the Manimals. The album is a collection of songs representing seven characters from Game of Thrones. The post not only described the concept in more detail but also featured a discussion of the song Mother, the point of view of Daenerys Targaryen.

Jon Snow: Now, I expect you to kill a lot of buttrash Lannisters with this.
Arya Stark: I’ll start making a list!

This post will be covering the tracks Teeth and Lone, which are representative of adorable murder-angel Arya Stark and Jon Snow, the young man who gave Arya her iconic instrument of death, Needle. (The best swords have names, yo.)

This post will be talking about my favorite little murder-angel, Arya Stark. This post will also be spoilery if you’re not up-to-date with Game of Thrones on HBO.

Someone’s not current on my adventures? What’s their name? I have a list.

Arya in the Lost and Found

I almost entitled this post Losing Arya because her story is all about relentless loss. Usually she’s losing something or someone close to her.

Or people are losing her.

This post will be discussing two children of Lord Eddard “I love that bastard” Stark and Lady Catelyn “I hate that bastard” Stark.

No, I’m not talking about Stark bastards, I’m talking about two of the legitimate children, Arya and Bran.

Arya: Seven Hells! Sansa’s always been tall!
Bran: She’s like another Hodor.

And as usual, I’ll be spoiling plot points from HBO’s Game of Thrones, so if you’re not caught up, I can’t be held responsible if Arya stabs you in the face with a spoiler. Like she does.

Hodor.
