Happy New Year! To celebrate the end of 2017 (a year so bad, Arya Stark had it on her list) I published another Game of Thrones feature on Watchers on the Wall.
I won’t spoil the content of that article, but I talk about how the two venerable institutions on Braavos, the Iron Bank and the House of Black and White, might have some part to play in Season Eight, specifically in regards to a lioness of House Lannister and a wolf-girl of House Stark.
Feel free to read it, then come back and tell me how I’m wrong about everything:
Checks and Balances: Arya, Braavos, and Debt
(Or, feel free to leave me a comment on the Watchers site, that’s fine too.)
I hope everyone is staying warm, it’s freaking cold here in Maryland.
(Comments are always welcome. Super welcome! But if you want to talk spoilery Game of Thrones talk with me (also welcome) I’d invite you to visit my Safe Spoilers page on my backup blog. That way my non-book-reading friends won’t be shocked with foreknowledge.)
Image from Game of Thrones, obviously.
If you liked this article, thank you! I have all of my Game of Thrones related articles on my handy-dandy Game of Thrones page should you want to read more but don’t want to navigate around my site.

Happy new year, Patrick! You know I’m relying on you to help me through a fallow GOT year…no pressure! 😀

Thanks Al – at some point I need to write something about the Last Jedi, even though by now it has all been said.
And Happy New Year to you as well!

I’d be interested in reading that… although I avoided writing anything about it for the same reasons as you! (That and the fact that I really didn’t like it, and didn’t want to get into any great debate with those who did love it, tbh…!)

I loved it – but I don’t mind reading criticisms of people who didn’t, unless they’re bad opinion. You know “The movie wasn’t the movie I had in my head” or “it violated that thing I once read” or stuff like that.
Anyway, you and I had very civil disagreements over The Force Awakens, so hopefully we can do the same about The Last Jedi.
Cheers!

Oh, there was no movie in my head for this, and it gets full credit for feeling entirely new this time… But still… Hey, who knows, maybe we’ll even eventually both agree on Ep 9!

I don’t know, if we agreed on a Star Wars movie, that might put things out of balance!

And this film was all about balance… So if we came to a consensus that would be ruined…!

We better start with the name-calling then. This is the Internet after all.
(Again, happy new year, it’s great hearing from you.)

2017 or 2016: Part II *horrified screaming* Arya should’ve taken care of 2017 first; then everything else would’ve fallen into place. I need to start frequenting Watchers on the Walls, but I’m afraid of falling down a rabbit hole. While I know it’s awesome, rabbit holes are gigantic time sucks.

Watchers is good for up to date casting news and other minor-spoilery stuff. I hear what you’re saying about rabbit holes, particularly if you are trying to get your own stuff done. (I haven’t been to Reddit for a looong time because of that…)
