Alien: Covenant is now out in theaters, but I haven’t seen it yet. (So no worries about me spoiling that movie here.)
I noticed the other day that I was coming up on my blog’s 300th post. Yay me!
I felt it would be appropriate to recognize that milestone with some thoughts on a movie series (since that’s why I started blogging in the first place) and since there was an Alien franchise movie in theaters, here are some of my observations with those movies.
This has happened before. This will happen again.
The year is nearly over, so at some point I’ll look at how my blog performed in 2015 (I don’t think I’m using the word “performed” correctly, but when has improper language usage stopped me?)
For the second year in a row, I hit my blogging goal of putting out a Game of Thrones-related post every week before the new season started up, and every two weeks after the season ended. (Except in rare instances, I don’t blog about Game of Thrones during the season. I’m too busy reading everyone else’s recaps.)
WordPress recently sent me an alert, letting me know that it was my second anniversary of blogging. So I decided it was time for the obligatory self-congratulatory post. But I’m not a monster, here is a picture of my dogs, to make everyone happy:

Like the previous year, I did a lot of blog posts about Game of Thrones, the excellent show on HBO. I really should do more movie or book reviews. But I did review some cool TV shows that didn’t include Starks and Lannisters, and I kept up with monthly MicroStory writing, so there was a wee teensy weensy bit of diverse things going on.
2015 is nearly here, and in a handful of months, HBO’s excellent Game of Thrones will resume with its fifth season. Hopefully at the end of March, possibly at the beginning of April.
To pass the time, I’ll be doing weekly Game of Thrones blogging.
Can’t You See I’m Making a Blog Post About Game of Thrones? Harrumph!
Back in 2013, I started writing the random Game of Thrones post, and at the beginning of the year I took on the challenge of writing a post a week. (All you professional and serious bloggers are laughing at the weak weekly output, but it was a challenge for me.)
I recently celebrated my first year of blogging, and had a post identifying top 10 posts for my bloggoversary. During the year, one of the blogs I follow had a post with weird search terms that had hit on her blog.
I loved reading that post, and it made me occasionally eyeball what search-strings are intersecting with my content.
Since my blog is predominantly Game of Thrones related, the searches that I could see* were almost all Game of Thrones-related.
But there were a fair amount of Breaking Bad-related hits. Fair enough. I have done long recaps and observations on all 5 seasons of BrBa.
Sadly, I didn’t have as many as I’d hoped-for stand-out weird searches that had made a hit on my blog postings, but there were themes and frequently asked questions that I think are pretty cool to look at. And so I shall.
Hey, it’s been over a year since I started blogging. Since there was such a low barrier to entry for tossing words on a website for the Internet to eyeball, I was hesitant to call myself a “blogger”, but I’ve been doing this for about a year and have over 100 blog postings (counting both my blogs), so I might as well commit to the term.

Blog of Thrones
I hadn’t originally expected this blog to be so Game of Thrones focused (or I might have named it more relevantly or something from the beginning) but that’s just the way things turned out once I started defending the allegedly bad decisions of the characters.
Okay, like most people who blog, I get delighted when I get comments. I am rarely delighted however when a spam comment makes it through WordPress’ otherwise excellent spam filter. A few days ago, I was delighted.

My email let me know that my blog post Defending Magic in Game of Thrones had a comment waiting for moderation. Right on. It’s a great post! (I might be biased.) But I was unprepared for the effusive praise in the comment.
