This is not necessarily going to be a full review of the movie Blade Runner 2049.

Oh, I’ll give my official thumbs up or thumbs down at the end of this article- or maybe before – but there are interesting ideas in the movie that I think are worthy of a blog post or two. Will this blog post be worthy of your attention? As usual, I make no promises.

I’m assuming that you’ve already seen the movie, or are willing to have some plot points spoiled. I might administer a Voight-Kampff test as well. (I won’t. Or will I?)

September 2017 #MicroStory Collection

It’s October, so I went through my social media feeds and grabbed all of the MicroStories I’d tweeted during the month of September.

As a reminder, these represent story-essences composed using no more than 129 characters (so I could tweet them with the hashtag #MicroStory.)

Usually, I only tweet Science Fiction and Fantasy #MicroStories. September was pretty much no exception. (Some of them seem less obvious as Sci Fi/Fantasy. Your mileage may vary.)

For really great #MicroStory action, please follow @MicroSFF, the Twitter account that inspired me to participate in this minimalist writing exercise. That feed puts out great science fiction and fantasy MicroStories all the time.

Batman Day 2017

Batman Day is in a few days, September 26th. No really, it is. But it’s being celebrated early in comic shops around the country today. Because … Saturday.

 

In honor of previous September marketing ploys celebrating the Dark Knight, a few years ago I started an annual tradition of writing about the Caped Crusader. (I think it takes doing something at least three times to call something a tradition, so this post is the required third thing. Nailed it.)

Lord Randyll: That spoiler warning seems a tad over-wrought for my taste. In my day, we’d brave one hundred spoilers before breakfast. My son Sam, on the other hand, would eat one hundred breakfasts. And not brave anything.

Midway through the sixth season of Game of Thrones, viewers met with the cold and forbidding Randyll Tarly, Sam Tarly’s father.
