Happy International Batman Day! (Or, if you prefer to be grim and moody on this thematic day, you don’t have to be happy. I’m not the boss of you.)

Commissioner Jim Gordon: Virtue Signaling

Back in 2015, I started to write annual blog posts about my favorite costumed comic book hero, Batman, as a means to celebrate the September-event Batman Day – a day I suppose was created by the marketing department at DC Comics.

This post will be revealing details of the recent DCEU movie Justice League. I guess it’ll be a movie review too. I liked the movie, and I’d recommend seeing it. But this post will largely be me talking about a massively multiplayer online game I used to play: City of Heroes.

Nearly five years ago today, the servers for the videogame City of Heroes shut down for good.

It happened a little after 2 a.m. December 1st 2012. I know that because I was logged on at the time, along with my gaming friends, waiting for the virtual world that I’d occasionally saved go dark. I’ve been meaning to post some of my thoughts on the in-production reboot of the cinematic¬†Hellboy.

For those of you who have no idea what I’m talking about, Hellboy is the creation of comic book artist/writer Mike Mignola. He’s a big red demon. A heroic one.

Well, something must have told me, since I’m writing this blog post.

Me am Miles Manners, reporter.

Today, my Twitter feed was a buzz with it being #NationalSuperheroDay. Right on! If I had realized this earlier, I’d have prepared something more meaningful. So now I’m on notice for next year.

Hey, I sometimes talk about comic books or movies/television based on comic books here on my blog, because I enjoy reading comics (or graphic novels if my saying comic books makes you roll your eyes. )

Yes, I’m a grown-ass man, but there seems in general to be less of a stigma for people to talk about enjoying stories presented in a serialized, visual format. Or at least, I thought so. But October had some weird news relating to comics, and I thought I’d kick some of that around.
