This post will be discussing Ed Harris’ character on HBO’s Westworld. If you’re not caught up with the show, this post will be spoiling details from the first five episodes. Fair warning.

edharris

Fair warning. That’s cute.

The Man With No Name

I mentioned in a previous post about Westworld, comparing it to LOST (like I am sure everyone has done) that before the season began, I’d assumed that Ed Harris would be stepping into the boots once filled by Yul Brynner. That Harris would be the analog for Brynner’s black-hatted robot gunslinger who would become the face of danger in the park, as the robotic denizens turned on the vacationing human guests.

This post will be talking about HBO’s science fiction drama Westworld, and will be talking about some spoilery speculations. If you’re not into theorizing about the show, I guarantee this will either be spoilery (if correct) or just irritating to you (if wrong.)

westworld-va-tout-dechirer

At the time of this post’s publishing, we’re halfway through the first season of Westworld, which has presented a plethora of mysteries to chew on. And chew on them people have, with intriguing observations and theories.

Seriously, if you’re not into possibly spoilery speculation, hop out of this post now.

Less than a week from Halloween! Now’s a good time to talk about a rather spooooooky character from Game of Thrones.

This post’s topic will be Ser Gregor Clegane. If you’re not up on the latest season of Game of Thrones, then you’re way behind. Get caught up! We’ll wait.

This post will be talking about HBO’s new drama Westworld, but I’ll also be talking about ABC’s LOST. (And possibly Mutant Enemy Productions’ excellent film Cabin in the Woods.)

If you’re not up to date on these properties then this post might not be for you. (Unless you don’t care about spoilers. I don’t judge.)

Last chance to eject, because I’ll not be shying away from talking about plot details of all of the properties I mentioned above.

This post will talk about Game of Thrones, HBO’s excellent adaptation of the unfinished A Song of Ice and Fire series by George RR Martin. I’ll focus on the sixth season of the show and in particular, the character of Sandor “the Hound” Clegane.

If you’re not caught up, do so! Forget I mentioned the Hound! And, uh, he probably died in Season Four!

Clegane

The Hound: You know I”m a wanted man, right? Must you be telling everyone I’m still alive?
Me: YOU ARE? SPOILER!!!
The Hound: GRRRRRR…

Okay, now that I’ve misled everyone not-in-the-know, cleverly and indisputably, let’s begin.

The only good Balon Greyjoy is a dead Balon Greyjoy.

Okay, this post will be talking about Game of Thrones, HBO’s adaptation of George RR Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire. Specifically, I’ll be talking about Balon Greyjoy, the former King of the Iron Islands. I’m kind of glad he’s dead.

Bah!

Whoa! Usually I don’t drop spoilers about characters on Game of Thrones at the very top of the post. Yeah, yeah, I know. But there are some things that are hard to keep quiet about  – and I’ve had to keep quiet about Balon’s demise for a very long time. Hopefully you’ll understand as I explain.

Balon Greyjoy Finally Meets Up with the Drowned God. FINALLY!

Who owns the North? The Umbers do, or so they allege.

It’s a Lease-to-Own arrangement!

This post will be talking in general about House Umber, one of the great northern houses in HBO’s Game of Thrones, and specifically about their large and hairy leader, the Smalljon.

He’s been quite a rascal. But I kind of get where he’s coming from.

It’s almost October and I’m eagerly anticipating the second season of Ash vs Evil Dead, the continuing adventures of one-handed chainsaw-wielding Ash Williams as he takes on demonic supernatural forces. At least, he does when they force him to do so by trying to kill him. Otherwise, he’d probably leave them alone, provided he gets to vacation in Jacksonville, Florida.

(This post is going to have some spoilers for Ash vs Evil Dead, so fair warning.)

This post concerns Game of Thrones, HBO’s adaptation of George RR Martin’s excellent (and nigh-unfinishable) fantasy series A Song of Ice and Fire.

If you are not caught up with the storyline as revealed on the show, you’d be doing yourself a disservice by reading this blog post. (A similar claim might be made for reading any of my blogs posts, even if you’re up-to-speed on things…)

Ser Arthur Dayne: They say King Aerys went mad reading this guy’s blogs.
Ser Other Guy: They say a lot of things.

Anyway, don’t spoil yourself. But come back some time! Arthur Dayne will still be here waiting for you.

The Dreamy Ser Arthur Dayne

Game of Thrones often brings surprises, especially to those who haven’t read the books, but its sixth season had a delightful surprise in store for book readers by managing to give a glimpse into the past at the tail end of Robert’s rebellion, when young Ned Stark and a handful of men fought against the last of King Aerys Targaryen’s elite Kingsguard.

Law and Order: Westeros

This post will be talking about the state of law on HBO’s Game of Thrones. Plot points from the first six seasons will be discussed, so if you have an iron-clad policy against spoilers and you are not caught up with your watching, let this serve as the legal disclaimer.

Arya_kills_Polliver-1024x577

Polliver: I’M SORRY! I didn’t mean to spoil you about how the Sixth Sense ends!
Arya: You and Bruce Willis are about to have something in common…

The fantasy land of Westeros appears to be quite a lawless place, with frequent occurrences of treachery, backstabbing, unpunished kinslaying, robbery, murder, etc. At the very least it’s a violent place, but even though there doesn’t seem to be much adherence to the rule of law, laws are in evidence. Sometimes in unexpected ways.
