Ten Questions to Ponder Before Watching Game of Thrones 803

This weekend will feature a new episode of Game of Thrones, the third episode of the eighth and final season. For fun, I’ve put together ten yes-or-no questions that will be answered during the episode. (I feel this is non-spoilery, since I don’t know what’s going to happen, other than there’s going to be GASP a battle.)

No one is required to play, or even tell me their answers/predictions. There is no prize for getting all of them right, or all of them wrong. The reward is just in playing along.

For the upcoming episode …

1) Will we see any wights that are representing House Umber? (Either carrying the Umber sigil on their shields or wearing the distinctive Umber chained look.)
2) Will we see any wights that aren’t humanoids? Not counting horses or Viserion. (For example, wight polar bears, wight direwolves, etc.)
3) Will House Glover or Robett Glover be mentioned or seen in the episode?
4) Will Ghost attack a White Walker? (Not just a wight, a White Walker.)
5) Will Ned Stark be referenced (by name, title, “father” etc) ?
6) Will the Golden Company sellswords be mentioned or will we see them?
7) Will we see Melisandre?
8) Will we see Qyburn?
9) Will Varys fight a wight? (Varys being killed by a wight without putting up some kind of fight does not count as fighting a wight.)
10) Will we see the actual blades of the five Valyrian steel weapons that are known to be at Winterfell? (As a reminder – here are those weapons. Longclaw (Jon), Heartsbane (Jorah), Oathkeeper (Brienne), Widow’s Wail (Jaime), the catspaw assassin dagger (Arya) )
Feel free to hope that your answers to the above questions come true. Get excited when something happens that you guessed would happen, get mad when the writers do other than you want. (This is a fan go-to move, really.)
Sometime after the episode airs, I will come back to this post and make a link to where the official adjudicating-by-me answers are.
Best wishes and good luck!
UPDATE: I’ve seen the episode, and you can read the adjudicated answers now.

(Comments are always welcome. Super welcome! But if you want to talk spoilery Game of Thrones talk with me (also welcome) I’d invite you to visit my Safe Spoilers page on my backup blog. That way my non-book-reading friends won’t be shocked with foreknowledge.)

If you liked this fun activity, thank you! I do a lot of writing about Game of Thrones. I have all of my related articles on my handy-dandy Game of Thrones page should you want to read more but don’t want to navigate around my site.

  1. I’ve been thinking about Mellisandre! Possibly like in Battle of the Bastards where Sansa and Little finger turned up with the Knights of the veil to help towards the end… Will she turn up with an army of burned men? E.g. Khal Drogo? Eegrite? All those who were burned… “Death by fire is the purest death”. That’d be awesome, anyway! LOVE your ideas for the Battle of Winterfell, can’t wait to see it! Great post!

I definitely want to see Melisandre and I think Varys might surprise us (but not as much as me when I saw the actor with hair). We are so excited in our house – Teddy is referring to me as Mother of kittens.
