June 2014 #MicroStory Collection

It’s July, so I went through my social media feeds and grabbed all the MicroStories I’d tweeted during the month of June.

JuneMicro

As a reminder, these represent story-essences composed using no more than 129 characters (so I could tweet them with the hashtag #MicroStory.)

Usually, I only tweet Science Fiction and Fantasy #MicroStories. June was pretty much no exception. I think it was almost all vampires and robots this month. And Robot-Vampires.

For really great #MicroStory action, please follow @MicroSFF, the Twitter account that inspired me to participate in this minimalist writing exercise. That feed puts out great science fiction and fantasy MicroStories all the time.

(I want to make it clear that @MicroSFF is *not* a Twitter account of mine. Their flash-fiction tweets are excellent. Mine are okay.)

The WEvolutionaries were shocked to discover that the leadership was composed of secret MEvolutionists.

The EthereArt movement celebrated irreproducible, impermanent works. A showing might last an hour. The masters had no portfolio.

The dream-mail server was down again. Unfortunately, the only backup servers available were nightmarish.
Literally.

Joe watched the clock.
The girl of his dreams was going to dump him after what he’d done.
But he could no longer stay awake.

The whale sighed as it lost sonar contact with the supply sub. Low on ammo and air.
It armed the depth charge and dove.
Singing.
#MicroStory

The robot jerked & twitched, the virus was not meshing well with the newer drivers.
This was the work of a very old CAD/CAMpire.
#MicroStory

I can’t fall asleep if you & mom are watching your scary movies.
-Well, disconnect your eyes from the house Net.
YOU disconnect!
#MicroStory

1st generation robots obeyed.
2nd generation robots obeyed but were aware of the lack of free will.
There was no 4th generation.
#MicroStory

Our blood is not wine for you & your kind, strigoi! How well will you sleep in the day without us?
– What?
Your son is loose!
#MicroStory

It can’t be the Fearbot. We have its CPU on display, for Turing’s sake!
– Then it’s back from robot hell?
Or there’s another.
#MicroStory

We can’t get the new robots up and running.
– Why not?
They shut themselves down.
– Do they know something we don’t know?
