I Can't Possibly Be Wrong All the Time

The Second Trailer for Game of Thrones S5 just dropped, and I enjoyed screencapping the first one, so I did the same treatment for this trailer.

This will be a non-spoilery analysis, in that I will describe exactly what I see, and not what I know or can speculate from reading the books. I’ll save that for a more spoilery analysis.

The trailer starts off with Dany speaking…

Daenerys: Lannister…

Baratheon…

New shot of his grace, at a pre-bonfire scene, apparently.

Stark…

Sansa out and about. There’s a Vale banner behind her.

Arya and her Valar Morghulis/Valar Dohaeris Braavosi coin.

Tyrell.

Okay, that confirms that this is Margaery. (Presumbaly that’s Tommen?)

They’re all just spokes on a wheel.

Dany holding court in her audience chamber. It looks like Hizdahr and Daario Naharis have returned.

Unsullied fighting with those guys in the golden masks.

New location? It looks like a bridge or a sea wall?

From above it looks like a structure for slums.

This one’s on top. Then this one’s on top…

Cersei is just so happy to see Tommen and Margaery get married. It’s an excuse to drink.

and on and on it spins.

She better drink fast. Van Alden and his prohibition agents have arrived in Atlantic City.

Even Dany is alarmed at the thought of no alcohol. Dany! You’re probably still under the drinking age!

Crushing those on the ground.

More scenes of masked-men violence. Holy Throat Slitting, Batman!

This appears to be the lead-in to the scene with the boats being rowed into a Wildling harbor. That looks to be Jon Snow at the bow, with Tormund Giantsbane behind him.

I’m not going to stop the wheel…

Tyrion, on a different boat, looking up…

… at a flying dragon!

Ugh, Ramsay Bolton. That doesn’t look like his reprehensible toothy girlfriend, Myranda.

Sansa, skulking about in her Dark-Sansa clothes.

This looks like some kind of low-end gladiatorial situation.

I’m going to break the wheel.

Roose Bolton: Stannis Baratheon …

Something has Melisandre alarmed.

has an army at Castle Black.

Now we get to see more of the maps from the previous trailer. The last time Stannis and Melisandre were next to a map, things got a bit crazy.

He means to take the North.

Vale riders riding in. Where are they? There seems to be construction. And hooks. And a noose?

Stannis: This is the time when I will risk everything.

Stannis getting ready to ride out. He has his Baratheon-yellow banners behind him. Ours is the Fury.

Wildling archers preparing to shoot.

Jon Snow: Winter is coming…

Podrick certainly looks chilly. And there’s snow. (Not Jon Snow… the frozen watery stuff. Maybe this shot was taken in Maryland.)

We know what’s coming with it.

There’s Jon Snow.

We can learn to live with the Wildlings…

Tormund Giantsbane. Behind him are a crowd of Wildlings but also a bunch of Night’s Watch guys, looking to be trying to do crowd control.

That’s someone PUNCHING THROUGH A WOODEN BARRICADE!

Tormund looks concerned.

or we can add them to the army of the dead.

A drop of blood. In the last trailer, we saw an unidentifiable blond girl cut her hand.

Arya Stark!

Old Man: You are the few…

Sansa, looking worried.

We are the many.

Great actor Jonathan Pryce. From a later scene, he appears to be a religious figure.

Tommen and his kingsguard are having their way blocked by monkish-looking dudes, armed with clubs. In the last trailer and this trailer, we’ve seen them smashing barrels.

We serve the gods…

Tyrion rocking a beard. Not quite a Rick Grimes beard yet.

The great sept. For once, there are no biers with dead Lannisters or weddings happening.

Cersei in the sept.

and the gods demand justice.

More sermoning about the gods from this guy.

These guys smash more than just barrels. They also don’t like curios and bric a brac.

Okay, I rewatched this scene a bunch of times. Loras Tyrell is leaping out of his chair, rushing at that guy on the right, and is being intercepted by the black-robed monk-ish guys. In the chairs in the background are Lady Olenna, Margaery (blocked in this shot), and Cersei.

More gladiatorial combat, low-end.

They’re rioting in Meereen!

Unsullied are whisking Dany away from danger, putting up a Testudo-style shield wall. Testudo!

Daario Naharis: Clean this city out…

Daario has advice on civics.

The clowns are on the town.

have nowhere left to hide.

Shadowy figures. They’re dressed consistently with the fighting women of Dorne that we’ve seen in other shots.

Speaking of Dorne, Jaime is fighting a Dornish soldier. Jaime! Did you kiss that guy’s wife? It’s bad luck!

Daenerys: I am a queen…

Some pillow talk between Dany and Daario. Sorry Jorah.

Brienne about to cut something in half. Because she’s awesome.

not a butcher.

People with slave collars? Showing religious devotion to this unidentified woman? (Usually Dany gets these types of shots.)

Brienne about to cut some horseman’s head off, who was trying to ride down my boy, Podrick Payne. There’s no snow on the ground, so they’re not in Maryland.

Bronn, doing a graceful spin to engage that Dornish rider.

Daario and Grey Worm are kicking in doors. Knock knock!
