August 2014 #MicroStory Collection

It’s September, so I went through my social media feeds and grabbed all the MicroStories I’d tweeted during the month of August.

I was super-unproductive in August, at least in regards to writing Flash Fiction, only tweeting out 4 of them.

I also failed to notice that the prevous month marked my year anniversary of doing this exercise, when I tweeted my 169th MicroStory.

As a reminder, these represent story-essences composed using no more than 129 characters (so I could tweet them with the hashtag #MicroStory.)

Usually, I only tweet Science Fiction and Fantasy #MicroStories. When I remember to do so.

For really great #MicroStory action, please follow @MicroSFF, the Twitter account that inspired me to participate in this minimalist writing exercise. That feed puts out great science fiction and fantasy MicroStories all the time.

(I want to make it clear that @MicroSFF is *not* a Twitter account of mine. Their flash-fiction tweets are excellent. Mine are okay.)

You let a peasant claim the artifact?
– She was worthy.
That relic was my destiny!
– Obviously not, your Highness.

Driving a herd of poison-exhaling stone-skin gorgon-cattle thru orc tribal lands aint easy, but them wizards pay top coin.

It’s hard for the old to adapt.
Even harder for the rich mega-old: artificially young but noticeably, shockingly unhip.

Doc assured him that the pills would help with the hallucinations.
He was hoping for fewer monsters.
But his friends vanished.

Hopefully I’ll be more creative in September. But really, I should look over the 173 story essences I’ve posted and see about making them less-micro.

I didn’t know you did this. I’ve just followed both of you. I’m not sure I get them all, though.

Hi Pat, I laughed a lot at “shockingly unhip”…nice surprise there. 🙂 I am feeling bad for the friendless hallucinator, though! Thanks for sharing.
